Organisation team

Innstrumenti is not only passionate about making music, but also about organising it.

Thomas Steinbrucker

Managing Director

Thomas Steinbrucker has been principal trumpeter of the Tyrolean chamber orchestra InnStrumenti since 2001 and is a member of the six-person programme group, in which the cornerstones of the upcoming concert programmes are determined. He has also been the orchestra’s managing director since 2021.

From 1998 to 2007, he studied instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the Tyrolean State Conservatory with Andreas Lackner (solo trumpet player Concentus Musicus Wien under Nikolaus Harnoncourt) and at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Prof. Karl Steininger (solo trumpet player Vienna Symphony Orchestra), as well as completing his ‘state teaching qualification’ with distinction in each case. During his studies in Salzburg, he was taught natural trumpet by Andreas Lackner. His in-depth training was enriched by masterclasses with Prof Hans Gansch (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra), Prof Josef Eidenberger (Bruckner University Linz), Klaus Schuhwerk, Richard Gianguglio (solo trumpeter Dallas Symphony) and others.

From 2001 to 2005, Thomas Steinbrucker was a member of various youth orchestras, such as the European Philharmonic Orchestra, the International Orchestra Academy Bayreuth, the Festival Orchestra Idyllwild Arts Los Angeles, the Vienna Youth Philharmonic and the Gustav Mahler Academy Bolzano.

He has been passing on his extensive knowledge since 1999 as part of his busy teaching activities, first at various regional music schools in Tyrol and since 2005 at the music school of the city of Innsbruck.

Thomas Steinbrucker’s skills on the modern and natural trumpet have always made him a sought-after orchestral musician – both in large symphony orchestras and especially in baroque orchestras. With the modern trumpet, for example, he was a regular substitute with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under Fabio Luisi, as well as with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck.

He has regularly played the natural trumpet in various baroque orchestras, such as the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra, Concentus Musicus Wien (Nikolaus Harnoncourt), Wiener Akademie (Martin Haselböck) and La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Andrea Marcon), Il Giardino Armonico (Giovanni Antonini), Les Passions De l’Ame – Orchester für Alte Musik Bern, Ensemble Zefiro, Concerto Copenhagen, B`Rock Gent, Concert Francais, Venice Baroque Orchestra, Ars Antiqua Austria, Neue Hofkapelle München.

Thomas Steinbrucker played in the new music band ‘Ensemble Windkraft’ and was a founding member of the Red Eagles Brassband Tyrol R.E.T. in 2014, which he has been a member of ever since. He is also a member of the Trompetenconsort Innsbruck and the trumpet ensemble Eliseo.
